Junior Health Law Counsel

We are currently seeking a Junior Health Law Counsel qualified to practice law in Ontario. We are looking for a lawyer who is recognized as or will continue to develop into someone who is sought after as an expert in this area. The successful candidate will specialize in this type of work and be excellent in the field. This is not a partnership track position.
The Junior Health Law Counsel role will work with a team of Partners and Associates ensuring the best outcomes for clients by demonstrating a high level of technical excellence. They will play an integral role in providing clients with superior legal guidance and representation for a wide range of health law matters. A significant part of the Counsel’s practice will focus on regulatory work at The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO), privacy issues, hospital privileges issues, mental health, and medical assistance in dying in the health law context.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong writing, drafting, research and analytical skills along with a demonstrated ability to conduct complex legal research and develop legal arguments
  • Demonstrated organizational and practice management skills, a keen attention for detail and the ability to work as part of a team or independently
  • Demonstrated interest in advocacy along with excellent oral advocacy and problem solving skills
  • Exceptional people management skills and interpersonal skills, proven relationship building skills
  • A strong listener who is able to quickly establish trust and credibility with their clients and team
  • Developed knowledge of various legal research methods and technology
  • Excellent academic performance
