Gilbert’s LLP Welcomes Swapna Prakash
October 15, 2025Gilbert’s LLP is thrilled to announce that Swapna Prakash has joined the firm as an associate.
Before joining Gilbert’s, Swapna earned her JD from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law and graduated with distinction from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Science in Integrated Sciences, focusing on microbiology, immunology, and cellular physiology. During law school, Swapna advised start-ups on intellectual property and business strategy at the University of Toronto’s Entrepreneurship Hatchery. In her second year, she served as a teaching assistant in the Faculty of Engineering, instructing “Entrepreneurship for Engineers,” where she guided students in building innovative businesses. Additionally, she gained valuable advocacy experience as a caseworker for Downtown Legal Services, representing clients facing criminal charges and academic misconduct allegations under supervision.
Swapna has a strong interest in how litigation strategies can further clients’ business objectives. She is particularly focused on the alignment of litigation strategies with commercial goals, especially within the regulatory framework of PMNOC proceedings. Passionate about the intersection of innovation and IP protection, she is drawn to the strategic role of litigation in safeguarding and enforcing intellectual property rights while aligning with broader business goals.
