March 11, 2026Morris + Stoltz LLP is a boutique litigation firm focused on complex medical malpractice and health law matters. We are looking for a talented associate with 3–6 years of call who is passionate about advocacy, enjoys intellectually challenging work and wants to grow within a small, cohesive team.
The opportunity
You will work on sophisticated medical malpractice and health law matters from day one, including:
- Pursuing medical malpractice claims involving physicians, hospitals, and other health‑care professionals.
- Drafting pleadings, motion materials, facta and opinions on liability, causation, and damages issues.
- Conducting discoveries, mediations, pre‑trials and assisting at hearings and trials.
- Working directly with clients, experts, and counsel.
- You will have meaningful carriage of files, with the expectation that you will take initiative in advancing matters, identifying next steps, and moving files forward efficiently with partner support available when needed.
Our practice offers the best of both worlds: high‑stakes, interesting litigation in a tight‑knit environment where you know your colleagues and your contributions are visible.
What we offer
- A genuinely collaborative, supportive team where partners are hands‑on and accessible.
- The opportunity to connect informally with one of our partners for a confidential coffee chat if you would like to learn more about the role or our firm before applying.
- Realistic hours that allow you to do excellent work and still have a life outside the office.
- A hybrid work model, with flexibility to work remotely several days per week while still benefiting from in‑person mentorship.
- Exposure to complex, precedent‑setting medical malpractice and health law cases.
- Direct mentorship from experienced litigators.
- Competitive compensation and benefits commensurate with experience.
What you bring
- 3–6 years of call to the Bar in Ontario, with solid civil litigation experience; prior medical malpractice, health law, professional liability or insurance defence experience is an asset.
- A strong academic record and excellent research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative, move files forward proactively, and keep clients and colleagues updated with appropriate supervision.
- Sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to handle complex factual and medical records.
- A collegial, team‑oriented approach and an interest in contributing to the culture of a growing boutique.
- Genuine enthusiasm for advocacy and for the evolving intersection of law, medicine, and health‑care policy.
