Bennett Jones Welcomes Associate Gregory Whiteside
August 14, 2019Gregory Whiteside practices in the area environmental, aboriginal, and regulatory law.
Gregory’s experience includes providing advice and representation in connection with:
- Environmental/regulatory enforcement and compliance matters in relation to significant environmental and operational investigations, as well as aeronautics and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) related investigations;
- Facility and associated federal and provincial regulatory approval processes for food processing operations, oil and gas producers, pipeline companies, and electricity and natural gas providers;
- Utility rates proceedings.
Gregory provides assistance to clients before regulatory bodies including the Alberta Energy Regulator, the Alberta Utilities Commission, the Surface Rights Board, Environmental Appeals Board and the National Energy Board. Gregory has also represented clients before the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench and the Provincial Court of Alberta.
Gregory was an active member of the pro bono legal community during his law school years, providing pro bono legal services to clients at Student Legal Assistance at the University of Calgary’s Faculty of Law, and was the recipient of the 2017 Student Legal Assistance Ambassador Award and the 2018 Dean Michael Wylie Social Responsibility Award for his work in the Calgary community.
Prior to joining Bennett Jones, Gregory worked as a wilderness guide in Northern Canada and was a competitive dog musher in Yukon Territory. He also has extensive international work and study experience, including Germany, Austria and Spain. He also enjoys aviation as a private pilot and mountaineering during his time off.
