Bereskin & Parr Welcomes New Associate Andrea Uetrecht

Andrea Uetrecht is an associate with Bereskin & Parr LLP. Her practice focuses on drafting and prosecution of patents in the life sciences and biotechnology space.
Andrea completed her Juris Doctor at Osgoode Hall Law School and her Doctor of Philosophy in Cell and Developmental Biology at University of North Carolina. As part of her PhD research project, she developed molecular tools for studying cellular functions. Andrea also completed a Master of Science in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at Simon Fraser University and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry at Trent University.
Andrea conducted two post-doctoral fellowship projects; the first at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, where she studied the roles of extracellular proteins in cancer cell adhesion and migration. The second project was at the University of Toronto, where she developed a fluorescence-based high-throughput screening method to detect protein-protein interactions and used these methods to study the roles of cell-surface proteins in cellular functions.
