Bereskin & Parr Welcomes New Associate Martin Brandsma

Martin Brandsma is an associate with Bereskin & Parr LLP and a member of the Litigation group. His practice focuses on all aspects of intellectual property litigation including patent law, copyright, trade secrets and trademarks. He has a broad range of clients including those in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, telecommunications, sound recording and collective rights management.

Martin graduated from the Juris Doctor program at the University of Ottawa. He also holds a Master of Science in Molecular Biology and an Honours Bachelor of Science (Genetics Specialization), both from the University of Western Ontario. His Master’s research focused on the design, production and optimization of novel therapeutic biologics particularly for the treatment of diabetes.

In 2016, Martin began a 9-month secondment as an associate counsel at an international organization representing the recording industry, located in London, UK. His work included supporting the in-house legal team and coordinating with outside counsel in various global jurisdictions to implement copyright enforcement strategies including criminal investigations, civil actions, and tribunal proceedings.

Prior to joining Bereskin & Parr, Martin was an IP litigation associate at an international law firm, where he practiced in all aspects of litigation.
