HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALTY LAW FIRM – HYDE HR LAW – EXPANDS TALENT
Oren Barbalat joins to serve fast-growing downtown boutique
Tuesday July 14, 2020 – Toronto ON – Today, Hyde HR Law is pleased to announce that Oren Barbalat has joined its team of talented professionals. This development is part of a series of strategic moves to expand the firm’s specialty Human Resources, Employment and Labour law practice across Canada. Barbalat joins from Levitt LLP, as a Senior Associate and will be based in the firm’s downtown Toronto office. https://hydehrlaw.com/oren-barbalat
When asked what he hopes to contribute in his new role, Barbalat said, “HR has never been so complex. The way companies do business is rapidly evolving, spurred by a profound and unprecedented economic climate. Recent worldwide events have catapulted HR related issues front and centre at the most senior of corporate tables. For Hyde HR Law, I want to bring the same sense of urgency and nimble decision making that employers and employees bring every day. Supporting our clients while growing the practice is what attracted me to this firm.”
John-Edward C. Hyde, Founder and Managing Partner of Hyde HR Law said, “Client service and partnership is at the centre of what we do. We’re able to do it better and with more agility because our team was trained and developed within big firms, but we’re no longer bogged down by big firm red tape.”
“This is why the team and I couldn’t be happier that Oren has come aboard to serve our clients. His experience and efficiency are exactly what our clients need in today’s marketplace.”
Barbalat brings extensive experience working for both employers and employees.
- For employers: he has helped businesses of all sizes assess and manage their workplace liabilities, including terminations and new contracts, workplace accommodations, and purchases and sales of businesses. Barbalat has particular expertise working with technology companies and start-ups and is attuned to their specific employment law needs.
- For employees: he has experience advising on and negotiating executive contracts and termination packages with complex compensation structures, as well as litigating wrongful dismissals and human rights violations. He also advises on the enforceability of non-compete and non-solicitation agreements for individuals contemplating a career move.
Barbalat was called to the bar in 2016, after earning his J.D. at Osgoode Hall Law School. Prior to attending Law School, he obtained an Honours B.A. and an M.A. from the University of Windsor. He is a member of the Law Society of Ontario and the Canadian Bar Association (Ontario).
