Oren Barbalat joins to serve fast-growing downtown boutique

This development is part of a series of strategic moves to expand the firm’s specialty Human Resources, Employment and Labour law practice across Canada. Barbalat brings extensive experience working for both employers and employees.

• For employers: he has helped businesses of all sizes assess and manage their workplace liabilities, including terminations and new contracts, workplace accommodations, and purchases and sales of businesses. Barbalat has particular expertise working with technology companies and start-ups and is attuned to their specific employment law needs.
• For employees: he has experience advising on and negotiating executive contracts and termination packages with complex compensation structures, as well as litigating wrongful dismissals and human rights violations. He also advises on the enforceability of non-compete and non-solicitation agreements for individuals contemplating a career move.

Barbalat was called to the bar in 2016, after earning his J.D. at Osgoode Hall Law School. Prior to attending Law School, he obtained an Honours B.A. and an M.A. from the University of Windsor. He is a member of the Law Society of Ontario and the Canadian Bar Association (Ontario).
