January 5, 2022Ruby Shiller Enenajor DiGiuseppe, Barristers is pleased to announce that Jessica Zita has joined the firm as an associate. Ms. Zita is a seasoned litigator with experience defending clients in complex criminal proceedings and appeals. At RSED, she will practice criminal, regulatory and constitutional law at the trial and appellate level.
Ms. Zita has appeared as counsel before all levels of court in Ontario and the Supreme Court of Canada. At the trial level, she has successfully defended clients charged with offences ranging from armed robbery to first degree murder. She has a strong appellate practice and regularly appears before the Ontario Court of Appeal.
Ms. Zita received her J.D. from Osgoode Hall, where she completed the Criminal Intensive Program. During law school, she was the recipient of Osgoode’s Wendy Babcock Social Justice Award, and the Legal and Literary Society’s Student Honour Award. Ms. Zita has appeared as a legal commentator on CBC, Law Times, and the former Advocate Daily. She has contributed to The Lawyer’s Daily, the textbook on Criminal Procedure in Canada, and since 2017 to the Supreme Court Law Review, co-authoring its annual criminal procedure summary.
