McCarthy Tétrault receives Chambers Canada Diversity Award

October 1, 2015

McCarthy Tétrault is pleased to announce that Chambers Canada has recognized our firm and Lawyers Without Borders Canada (LWBC) with the inaugural Diversity Award, for our work to advance LGBTI rights.

In particular, Chambers Canada is honouring litigation associates Élisabeth Brousseau and Roland Hung’s participation in an exploratory mission to Guatemala with LWBC where they examined the plight of the country’s LGBTI community – a community that is subject to persistent acts of discrimination and violence. Together with LWBC representatives Rafael Campos and Daniel Crespo, Élisabeth and Roland met with local stakeholders such as the country’s Human Rights Ombudsman and human rights lawyers, and participated in a number of round table discussions to collectively formulate ideas and strategies to help advance the rights of Guatemala’s LGBTI community.

The award was presented to Élisabeth and Roland at the Chambers Canada Awards held on October 1 in Toronto.

Diversity and inclusion is core to our identity at McCarthy Tétrault. It is a value that binds all of our people and inspires us all to continuously improve who we are as an organization. Please join us in congratulating Élisabeth and Roland for their well-deserved recognition and leading this important diversity initiative!
