Minden Gross LLP’s Samantha Prasad appointed to the Meritas Board of Directors

Minden Gross LLP is pleased to announce that tax lawyer Samantha Prasad has been appointed to the Board of Directors for Meritas, a global alliance of independent business law firms. Samantha was elected to the position during the alliance’s recent annual meeting in Denver, Colorado where the alliance celebrated its 25th anniversary.

In her role as a board member, Samantha will be responsible for reviewing and establishing policy and setting strategy for the alliance. Samantha will also act as an organizational leader, serving as a liaison to member firms on administrative issues. She will maintain contact with members, encourage and promote cross communications, and gather feedback on Meritas initiatives.

Samantha will serve a three-year term, during which time she will also serve on the Member Engagement Committee. The Meritas Board of Directors is comprised of 21 lawyers from its member firms around the world.

Samantha has been actively involved with Meritas for many years and has served as a member of the Meritas Leadership Institute, which created a green initiative project distributed to over 6,500 lawyers worldwide. After participating, Samantha then headed the Meritas Leadership Institute Program. Samantha currently sits on the Meritas Executive Committee for Member Relations & Marketing and is a longtime member of the Meritas Canada Tax Group.

Samantha practices in the area of Tax and Business Succession Planning where she assists clients with corporate, estate and international tax planning strategies. In addition, Samantha has particular experience in designing and implementing estate plans and corporate reorganizations. Samantha is designated as a Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) and is a  member of the Canadian Bar Association, the International Fiscal Association, the American Bar Association and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). She earned her law degree in 1998 from Queen’s University and is a member of the Ontario and New York bars.
