Rebecca Durcan is running for Bencher
March 12, 2015Rebecca practises exclusively in professional regulation. Her clients are other regulators. She is aware that the role of LSUC is to protect the public. She is also aware that one way to protect the public is to provide the necessary support and assistance to lawyers so that they can provide excellent legal services.
If elected, Rebecca would:
- encourage and support more women, aboriginal, gay and lesbian, and racialized licensees become leaders in the profession;
- advocate for a faster, less expensive and easier legal system so that low income Ontarians can access the legal system;
- support small firms and solo practitioners with resources and lower fees. This will allow this key demographic to flourish and ideally hire articling students (for pay) and associates; and
- remind lawyers that the public is expecting more information on the LSUC register. Convocation needs to turn its mind to this issue to ensure that the public keeps its confidence in the register – and the profession.
When not working at the firm or on the campaign, Rebecca can be found running after her three little boys, Harry (9), Jude (6) and Teddy (3).
