Sarah Corman Announces the Opening of Corman Feiner LLP
October 21, 2016Sarah Corman is pleased to announce the formation of Corman Feiner LLP, an innovative litigation boutique focusing on commercial litigation and professional liability and regulatory matters.
Sarah focuses her practice on commercial litigation and professional liability and regulation. Sarah acts for a broad range of clients including large and small companies, institutions, government entities and professionals. She has appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada, the Court of Appeal for Ontario, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and various administrative tribunals. She has also acted as counsel in complex commercial arbitration matters and inquests.
Before co-founding Corman Feiner LLP, Sarah was a partner in the litigation group at McCarthy Tétrault LLP, where she practised for 12 years following her call to the bar in 2004.
Sarah has acted for major mining companies, power generators, global software development firms, insurers, investors, contractors and government entities in complex project disputes. She is experienced in acting for companies in breach of contract, negligence, competition/antitrust, regulatory and environmental cases. She also has the rare experience of having acted on both sides of class actions: as defence counsel and as class counsel. Sarah’s class actions experience includes competition/anti-trust, product liability, pharmaceutical and consumer protection cases. Sarah is a co-author of the text Defending Class Actions in Canada: A Guide for Defendants, 4th Edition, published in 2015.
Professional liability and regulation is also at the core of Sarah’s practice. She has extensive experience defending health professionals in high stakes negligence proceedings and before their regulatory bodies. Sarah acts for dealer firms and regulated professionals in Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC) and Mutual Fund Dealers Association (MFDA) proceedings and for accountants, engineers and other professionals in civil and regulatory proceedings.
Sarah is an active teacher of legal advocacy, serving as an Adjunct Professor in the Competitive Mooting Program and a member of the Faculty in the Upper Year Trial Advocacy Course at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law.
