Welcome Adam Dodek

The University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law, Common Law Section is pleased to welcome Adam Dodek as its new Dean effective January 1, 2018.

Adam Dodek (BA, McGill University; JD, Harvard Law School; LLM, University of Toronto) is a full professor at the Faculty of Law, Common Law Section, where he served as Vice-Dean, Research, from 2012 to 2014. He also founded and directed the Cavanagh Williams LLP Professionalism Speaker Series, and co-founded the Public Law Group and the Legal Writing Academy.

In 2012, he received a Capital Educators’ Award and in 2014, he was named one of the 25 most influential lawyers in Canada by Canadian Lawyer. In 2015, he was awarded the Law Society Medal. He has published a number of books, including The Canadian Constitution, Solicitor-Client Privilege and The Charter Debates.

He will serve as Dean of the Faculty of Law, Common Law Section, for a five and a half year term, from January 1, 2018 to June 30, 2023.
