Sun Life is seeking a business-minded corporate securities lawyer to join its team as Legal Counsel. The successful candidate will work closely with the various corporate office groups, including finance, investor relations, human resources, compliance and risk. Responsibilities will include advising on continuous public disclosure, compensation plans, governance and policy and providing general advice on securities and financial services regulation.
The ideal candidate will have 4 to 6 years of experience with a broad range of securities and corporate governance matters, coming from a leading law firm or a publicly traded company. You will be a self-starter who has strong business acumen, excellent communication skills, and have demonstrated the ability to build relationships and gain the trust of business stakeholders. You will have an understanding of the Canadian and U.S. public company regulatory environments and applicable rules of the TSX and NYSE. A background in compensation plans and insurance company financial reporting are an asset but not required.
