Call to the bar

LOLG is pleased to welcome a recent new call, Tom Macintosh Zheng

October 3, 2022

Tom is a creative advocate. His experience in both business and law drives him to achieve prompt and effective client outcomes.

Tom is developing a broad litigation practice. Before joining Lax O’Sullivan, he trained for two years at a leading U.S. law firm in London, England, where he gained experience in civil litigation, financial services regulation and employment law. Notably, he was part of the team that successfully represented, pro bono, the respondents in a landmark U.K. Supreme Court appeal on the interpretation of the National Minimum Wage Regulations. He has also worked with several global technology and fintech companies in their regulatory dealings with the U.K.’s Financial Conduct Authority.

Tom received his LL.B. from King’s College London, where he obtained first-class honours and served as the president of the King’s College London Law Society. He also worked on multiple legal tech projects during law school, including a tool that made residential leases easier to read by automatically identifying and converting legal jargon into plain English. Before moving to England, he co-founded a tech start-up while living in Montreal.

Tom is fluent in Mandarin Chinese, speaks conversational Swedish, and is qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales.
