Mitchell is an experienced litigator focused on corporate and commercial disputes. Mitchell regularly acts on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants in disputes involving breach of contract, shareholder rights, professional negligence, fraud, defamation, investment loss, and insurance coverage issues. His courtroom experience spans trials and appeals at all levels of court in Ontario as well as trial courts in other provinces across Canada. He has appeared before various administrative tribunals and in private arbitrations.
Mitchell maintains a specialized employment practice where he advises businesses, professionals, and executives on wrongful dismissal claims, severance negotiations, workplace investigations, and injunctions arising from breaches of non-solicitation and non-compete provisions.
In addition, Mitchell represents individuals and companies in investigations and enforcement proceedings before the Ontario Securities Commission (now the Capital Markets Tribunal), the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO), and the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA). His familiarity with the rules and regulations governing the capital markets enhances his ability to guide clients through complex compliance and enforcement issues.
