Cassels Brocks Newest Partner: Ted Frankel
April 11, 2013Cassels Brock is proud to announce that Ted Frankel has been admitted to the firms partnership.
Teds practice focuses on commercial litigation matters, including contract disputes, debtor-creditor, product liability, securities and bankruptcy/insolvency.
He has appeared regularly before the Superior Court of Justice on behalf of large institutions and government clients. Ted is also adept at resolving disputes outside the courtroom, having settled dozens of cases following mediations, discoveries, and pre-trials.
Some of Ted’s experience includes:
- Defending a Member of Parliament in a defamation action commenced by a former Prime Minister of Canada
- Bringing a successful Application to have a serial litigator declared a "vexatious litigant" on behalf of the Province of Ontario – [Dysart (Township) v. Mohammed, [2007] O.J. No. 4139 ~ 4pp ONSupCtJus 2007/10/16 Ontario Judgments].
He was also involved in the following cases:
- Markeljevic v. Financial Services Commission of Ontario, [2005] O.J. No. 2098 ~ 8pp ONSupCtJus 2005/05/17 Ontario Judgments

Ted attended law school at Dalhousie University where he received the Hon. Richard B. Hanson Prize for highest standing in Constitutional Law, the Gowlings Essay Prize, and the Hon. Alistair Fraser Scholarship for first class standing among second year students. While in his third year, Ted spent a semester at the Dalhousie Legal Aid Clinic. He continues to be involved in pro bono and community-based legal initiatives as a regular volunteer at the Law Help Centre operated by Pro Bono Law Ontario. Ted serves on the board of the Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre in Toronto.
