Robichaud’s welcomes Thomas Surmanski as Associate Counsel

June 28, 2017

Thomas graduated Magna Cum Laude from Carleton University with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Criminal Justice. He then obtained his Juris Doctor from Queen’s University, before completing his articles at a litigation boutique in Toronto.

During law school, Thomas fostered his interest in advocacy by volunteering with ACORN Canada and as a Caseworker in Queen’s Legal Aid. Thomas was actively involved in his school community as a member of the Queen’s Law “Tortfeasors” Rugby team and as an executive of In Vino Veritas.

Thomas’ background in Law and Criminology, along with his experience working at a variety of legal settings including the federal government and mediation, provides him with a unique perspective when analyzing legal issues and negotiation. In 2016, he published a paper with the Cambridge Law Review in England entitled “Mosh Pits or Liability Pits?” Criminal and Tort Liability at Concerts.

Tom serves as Associate Counsel with the firm with particular focus on client relations, legal research and writing, and advanced litigation preparation.
