Durant Barristers Welcomes Andrew Paterson
December 17, 2021Andrew Paterson began his legal career at one of Canada’s largest, full-service law firms, where he practiced commercial litigation. As a young lawyer, he left the comfort of a large firm to build his own litigation practice representing clients in Ottawa and across Eastern Ontario. He subsequently joined one of Canada’s best boutique law firms, where he practiced international trade and procurement law, primarily before the Canadian International Trade Tribunal.
Andrew and our founder Erin Durant have past success working together as a team, including a Federal Court of Canada pro bono decision on behalf of a veteran who had been denied pension benefits. That case contributed to a systemic change in how the Veterans Review and Appeals Board treated claims related to Agent Orange exposure.
Andrew cares deeply about members of the Canadian Armed Forces and veterans. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Andrew served for ten years as an officer. He provides pro bono services and legal representation to a variety of veteran based charities and organizations. Andrew’s experience in the military will add to the firm’s diversity of perspectives when conducting investigations involving complex and conservative institutions and when proposing and advocating for institutional change.
Andrew lives in Ottawa with his wife and two young sons.
Durant Barristers is thrilled to introduce Andrew to our clients and the broader civil litigation community across Ontario. Andrew’s arrival allows us to accept more complex civil litigation files as we balance a busy court and investigation calendar in 2022. Andrew can be reached at APaterson@DurantBarristers.com.
Durant Barristers
http://www.durantbarristers.comAt Durant Barristers, our founder Erin Durant's goal is to practice law differently. Operating throughout Ontario but based in the Ottawa area, the firm is selective with potential clients. It is not a volume practice. The firm aims to provide efficient, practical and timely representation to a small roster of dedicated clients. By focusing on quality over quantity, the firm is always there when clients need urgent assistance.
