Smart & Biggar is pleased to announce that Jonas Gifford has become a Partner of the firm.

Jonas Gifford’s advises a diverse array of clients — from local inventors to foreign agents — seeking Canadian protection for their clients’ intellectual property assets. Jonas focuses on patent drafting and prosecution, primarily in the electrical, computer and mechanical arts. He represents clients in litigation matters in the Federal Court and in the Supreme Court of British Columbia on matters relating to patents, trademarks, copyright and industrial designs, and he regularly assists clients with industrial design matters in Canada, the United States, Europe and other jurisdictions. In addition to being recently named by Lexpert as one of Canada’s 2015 Rising Stars — Leading Lawyers Under 40, he has also been recognized annually in The Best Lawyers in Canada under Intellectual Property Law since 2015, and has been recognized as a ‘Rising Star’ in the 2015 edition of LMG Rising Stars under Patents.
