Human Rights and Employment Associate

Bird Bolt Law is growing, and we are hiring an Associate Lawyer with 3+ years experience to grow with us.

This is a permanent position for a lawyer with three to five years of litigation experience, ideally in employment law, human rights, or public interest work. It is based in Hamilton, with at least three days a week in our King Street East office.

You will carry your own files from the start. You will draft facta and pleadings, argue motions, examine witnesses, and advise clients through some of the most difficult moments of their working lives. You will appear before the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario and the courts, with the support of a team that reviews each other’s work and shares what it knows. There is a lot of mentorship and opportunities for growth here.

We are looking for an exceptional legal writer. Writing and advocacy are the craft at the centre of this practice. We want someone with sound judgment under pressure, who takes ownership of a file and moves it forward without waiting to be told how. We are a tech-forward firm and an early adopter of AI in legal work, so curiosity and early adoption of new tools is an asset. Our practice is feminist and trauma-informed in its foundations, which means warmth with clients and rigour on their cases, in equal measure.
