Jordan Assaraf has built his practice around a simple belief: that people deserve a fair fight, even when they’re up against powerful corporations and institutions. As a lawyer at Gluckstein Lawyers, he focuses on class actions and mass torts. Assaraf also gives back through his leadership in the community and by mentoring the next generation of legal talent.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

I get to work with an incredible team at Gluckstein Lawyers. We handle some of the most challenging and meaningful cases in the country. I’m fortunate to work alongside colleagues who are not only exceptional lawyers but great people.

I also have an opportunity to help clients who’ve been harmed through no fault of their own. In many cases, we’re taking on large corporations or institutions on behalf of people who couldn’t do it alone. It’s rewarding to hold organizations accountable while making things safer for others in the future.

What is the greatest challenge facing your area of practice?

Artificial intelligence. AI is making legal information more accessible, which is a positive development. But it can also give someone the impression that they understand a complex legal issue simply because they’ve asked AI a few questions. Class actions and mass torts involve scientific evidence, evolving legal principles and strategic decisions that can’t be reduced to a simple answer.

AI is a great tool. But it’s no substitute for experience, judgment or an understanding of the unique facts of a case. Helping clients understand that distinction will become an increasingly important part of what we do as class action lawyers.

Where do you see your practice area heading in the next five years?

I think we’ll continue to see class actions and mass torts evolve as technology, medicine and society evolve. We’re already seeing more cases involving medical devices, pharmaceuticals, AI, consumer protection and data privacy. As products become more sophisticated and companies operate on a more global scale, these cases will only grow more complex. Class actions will continue to play a vital role in providing access to justice and holding organizations accountable.

How do you give back to the community?

Giving back has always been important to me. I’m proud to serve as chair of the board for Variety Village Children’s Charity, which creates opportunities for children and adults of all abilities to participate in sport and recreation. I also enjoy mentoring younger lawyers and law students. I’ve had great mentors throughout my career, and I believe it’s important to pay that forward whenever I can.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

You’ll usually find me on a golf course, travelling, watching sports or spending time with family and friends. Most of my time outside the office is spent with my wife and our young daughter. Watching her grow has been one of the greatest joys of my life.

Jordan Assaraf is happy to meet with potential clients or consider referrals in the areas of class actions or mass torts.
