Abigail Smith joins Smart & Biggar
November 4, 2015Abigail Smith specializes in the field of life sciences (pharmaceuticals, biologics, medical devices, natural health products), with a focus on pharmaceutical litigation and regulation. Her litigation practice spans all areas of intellectual property including patents, trademarks, copyrights and industrial design, in a number of subject matters. She works with a wide range of clients including large multinationals, smaller corporations and individuals.
During her undergraduate and graduate studies, Abigail developed skills in synthetic organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, microbiology, molecular biology, and enzymology.
During her legal studies, Abigail was a recipient of several academic prizes for intellectual property law. She was also a member of the winning team from the University of Ottawa at the Oxford International Intellectual Property Moot in 2013.
Prior to joining the firm, Abigail clerked for Madam Justice Gauthier at the Federal Court of Appeal.
Abigail is a regular contributor to Rx IP Update, the firm’s monthly pharmaceutical intellectual property and regulatory newsletter.
