Aird & Berlis LLP Announces New partner, Jody Johnson
March 5, 2014Jody is a partner and a member of the Municipal and Land Use Planning Group at Aird & Berlis LLP. Jody has twenty years of experience in the municipal sector. Before joining the firm, Jody was a municipality’s Chief Administrative Officer and Municipal Clerk, where she oversaw a municipal restructuring. She also spent several years as a Municipal Advisor with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing. Jody summered and articled at the City of Windsor, where she assisted on a range of municipal law matters (including by-law drafting, governance matters, prosecution of municipal by-law offences, planning, and real estate and development matters). In August of 2008, she joined the firm as an associate. She became a partner in January of 2014.
Jody practises in the areas of municipal law and land use planning, and provides advice and representation to municipalities as well as to ratepayers and property owners. She appears regularly before municipal authorities and administrative tribunals, including the Ontario Municipal Board, the Assessment Review Board, and all levels of the Ontario Courts. Much of Jodys practice is comprised of work in the areas of municipal governance, municipal finance, property tax matters, expropriations and municipal election law. Jody’s municipal finance experience includes matters relative to development charges, municipal capital facilities, budgeting, and capital/infrastructure project management.
