HH Congratulates Brian Studniberg on his Promotion to Counsel
February 25, 2022Henein Hutchison LLP is pleased to announce Brian Studniberg’s promotion to Counsel.
Brian’s practice focuses on civil and appellate litigation. An experienced commercial controversy and tax disputes lawyer, Brian has been called to the bars of Ontario and Massachusetts. Brian received his J.D./M.B.A. at the University of Toronto where he was the Gerald W. Schwartz Bronze Medallist and his LL.M. from Harvard Law School.
Prior to joining Henein Hutchison LLP, Brian worked for a leading U.S. law firm in Boston and, before that, worked at a litigation boutique affiliated with one of the Big Four advisory firms in Toronto. For more than a decade, Brian has represented parties in complex commercial and tax litigation, including director’s liability cases, shareholder disputes, contests over eligibility for registered charity status, battles over aggressive tax planning, and commercial transactions gone awry.
A heterodox thinker, Brian relishes finding new ways to tackle intractable problems and to bring lasting resolution to challenging legal situations. Brian is the author of dozens of articles on legal topics, with commentary addressing tax matters, commercial transactions, and constitutional law. Recent publications address de facto directorships, the recognition of foreign legal orders in Canada, and information exchange under international fiscal agreements. Brian is also the co-author of a leading monograph on tax administration in Canada. Current writing projects include the scope of public authority liability in Canada and understanding the nature of tax avoidance prohibited under Canadian law.
