Nilanka Maldeniya Joins Cassels Brock
November 8, 2012Nilanka is an associate in the Financial Services Group and a member of the Corporate and Regulatory Insurance Practice Group. Her practice focuses on corporate and commercial law, with an emphasis on corporate and regulatory matters in the insurance industry.
Nilankas practice involves mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, formation of insurers, federal and provincial licensing of domestic and foreign insurers and insurance intermediaries, corporate governance, regulatory compliance matters, advising on non-insurance products, partnership and shareholder matters, and commercial contract negotiations as well as ongoing corporate matters.
During her time at Osgoode Hall Law School, Nilanka was selected as a Blakes Scholar and recognized for her academic achievement, community involvement and extra-curricular activities. Nilanka received the McCarthy Tetrault LLP prize in 2007 for standing second in the first year of law school, was awarded the Harold J. Rubenstein prize for obtaining the highest standing in Restitution in 2009 and graduated in the top 4% of her class.
Prior to joining Cassels Brock as an associate in 2012, Nilanka practiced in the corporate and securities group in the Toronto office of another leading Canadian law firm.
