TGF articling student James Hardy wins the 2017 Michael MacNaughton Student Writing Award for Insolvency Law
May 25, 2017Thornton Grout Finnigan articling student James Hardy is the recipient of the prestigious 2017 Michael MacNaughton Student Writing Award for Insolvency Law. His paper entitled “Equitable Subordination in CCAA Proceedings” explores the Supreme Court of Canada’s decision to grant leave to appeal from the Court of Appeal for Ontario’s decision in U.S. Steel Canada Inc., Re which had held that equitable subordination is not available in proceedings under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act.
The award will be presented by the Ontario Bar Association (Insolvency Law Section) at the Commercial List Users’ Committee annual retreat on May 31, 2017. Congratulations, James!
