Howie, Sacks & Henry Welcomes Victoria Kongats as an Associate

Howie, Sacks & Henry is pleased to welcome Victoria Kongats to the firm as an Associate.

Victoria is a lawyer practicing in the mass torts and class actions team. Her practice is focused on helping individuals impacted by the medical device, pharmaceutical, consumer product, and aviation industries.

Victoria received her Juris Doctor and Master of Laws from Dalhousie University’s Schulich School of Law. Before joining Howie, Sacks & Henry LLP, she practiced in professional regulation and general liability. She has appeared in the Ontario Court of Justice, the Licence and Appeal Tribunal, the Landlord and Tenant Board, the Health Professions Appeal and Review Board, the Small Claims Court, and the Superior Court of Justice.

Her Master of Laws thesis examined how federal laws governing the market entry of medical devices can be improved under the Constitution to increase the accuracy of safety and effectiveness claims for public health. She served as an editorial assistant for law reviews including the Dalhousie Law Journal and the Canadian Journal of Law and Technology. She was previously a research assistant with the Marine & Environmental Law Institute at Dalhousie University. There, she worked with stakeholders including the United Nations Environment Programme, the OECD, and WWF to spearhead training materials for multinational corporations on procedural and substantive human rights compliance across the plastics’ supply chain.
