Walter Chan joins Smart & Biggar, Canada’s leading firm for IP law, adding technical expertise to the firm’s patent practice group in Montreal.

Walter Chan, joins Smart & Biggar, Canada’s leading firm for intellectual property law, adding to the depth and breadth of the firm’s patent practice group in Ottawa.

Walter’s practice focuses on patent prosecution, opinions and counseling in chemical, pharmaceutical and clean technology.  His experience includes drafting and prosecuting patent applications, performing patentability and invalidity analyses, and assisting with patent litigation and regulatory compliance matters.

Prior to joining Smart & Biggar, Walter completed his Juris Doctor at the University of Toronto.  He also obtained a Certificate in Transnational Law from the University of Geneva.
