Fogler, Rubinoff LLP is pleased to announce that Michael Bryant has joined the firm as Counsel in our Indigenous Practice.

Michael has practiced law on both sides of the power line:  from the Cabinet table, as Ontario’s Chief Legal Officer, to urban bail courts and mental health courts, as duty counsel appearing before judges he appointed. As Ontario’s 35th Attorney General, he led a ministry of 1,000 prosecutors, appointed 69 judges, and legislated major reforms in human rights, police accountability, and access to justice. As Minister of Aboriginal Affairs, he negotiated a $2B+ gaming revenue-sharing and financial agreement with Ontario First Nations, ratified unanimously.

He later served as Chief Negotiator for Chippewas of Kettle & Stony Point First Nation, leading to the $100M+ Ipperwash Final Settlement Agreement, ratified in 2015. Bryant also led the Canadian Civil Liberties Association and served as Chief Executive Officer of Legal Aid BC. He practices in Indigenous law, public law, governance, and complex litigation strategy.
