Emily Elder Joins SpringLaw

We’re excited to welcome Emily Elder to SpringLaw as an employment, labour and workplace lawyer, bringing a thoughtful, people-first approach to helping clients

August 12, 2026

Emily Elder is a bilingual (French-English) workplace lawyer and investigator with a decade of experience across employment, labour, human rights, and pay equity law. She advises clients on a wide range of workplace matters and conducts investigations using a trauma-informed, fair, and practical approach.

Before joining SpringLaw, Emily practiced at leading labour and employment firms conducting labour arbitrations, mediations and negotiations for both union-employer labour relations, as well as litigating non-unionized employment matters.

Her subsequent role as a knowledge management lawyer at a management side law firm helped guide lawyers through emerging legal and AI-related issues. Emily also conducted harassment and human rights investigations at a leading Toronto investigations law firm.

Her diverse background gives her a unique perspective on workplace challenges and the evolving nature of work.

Emily’s path to law began in community-based organizations, where she supported youth and marginalized communities as a spoken word artist, facilitator, and crisis worker in the violence against women sector. This experience continues to inform her work today, helping her understand the human side of workplace conflict and guide clients through sensitive situations with empathy and insight.

Emily is known for her thoughtful, people-first approach and her ability to bring clarity to complex situations. Outside of work, she is a dedicated parent of two who enjoys cheering on her children’s activities, practicing karate, and unwinding with a good novel.
