Alisha Kapur Joins Rosen Sunshine LLP

Alisha joined Rosen Sunshine as an associate in 2023 after practicing at a litigation boutique in Toronto. Prior to this, Alisha clerked for the judges of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, where she gained invaluable insight into the judicial decision-making process and had the opportunity to work on civil, criminal, family, and administrative law matters within the jurisdiction of the Superior and Divisional Courts.

Alisha’s passion for health law and medical ethics began during her undergraduate studies at McGill University. In completing her B.Sc. in Psychology, Alisha found herself drawn to electives in bioethics and health policy, which ultimately led her to law school. Alisha received her JD from Western Law in 2021, where she graduated as valedictorian of her class.

While in law school, Alisha worked as a research assistant in constitutional and administrative law to Professor Wade Wright, and served as a teaching assistant for an undergraduate health law class. In 2019, Alisha was selected to work as a legal intern with the World Health Organization’s Framework Convention on Tobacco Control in Geneva, Switzerland.

Alisha was also heavily involved in Western Law’s mentorship program, and volunteered with Western’s Student Legal Society and Pro Bono Students Canada throughout law school. Alisha is passionate about public legal education, and in 2019 she co-founded a new program through Pro Bono Students Canada called Project Consent, an initiative that connects law students with high schools to engage in conversations about the law on consent and sexual assault. For her academic standing and contributions to the law school and community, she was awarded the Dean Ivan C. Rand award by Western Law in 2021.

Alisha was called to the Ontario bar in 2022. She is a member of the Advocates’ Society, the Medico-Legal Society, and the Canadian and Ontario Bar Associations.

In her spare time, Alisha enjoys hiking, film photography, and trying to keep her house plants alive.
