Canada’s Passion Capitalists

Torys is delighted to announce that we are a sponsor of a new national awards program that will recognize and honour Canada’s Top Passion Capitalists.

The program is inspired by Passion Capital, a new book by Paul Alofs, president and CEO of Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation. In his book, Paul asserts that passion is the most vital asset in creating change in business and public service, as well as in philanthropic pursuits. A passion capitalist is one who uses passion and determination to create important and sustainable change. The books list 50 examples of passion capitalists and their achievements.

The program begins with the book launch party for Passion Capital at the Steamwhistle Brewery in Toronto on May 7, 2012.

The application process will begin on May 8, 2012 on Canada’s Top Passion Capitalist website, and applications for nominees can be submitted through August. Twenty-five finalists from six regions in Canada will be announced in September and winners will be announced in late October/November. The profiles of the 10 national winners will be featured on BNN (Business News Network) and in the National Post. For more information, see the Canada’s Top Passion Capitalists website.
