After more than three decades of practice, noted employment and labour lawyer James A. LeNoury has announced his retirement and is seeking a buyer for his practice, LeNoury Law.

This opportunity may appeal to a lawyer looking to establish a boutique practice or expand an existing one. The practice emphasizes stable, well regarded corporations and organizations and represents a wide range of private and public sector employers as management-side clients with a mix of employee representation. LeNoury will assist with transition planning to support continuity for clients.

LeNoury was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1992 and has practised exclusively in employment and labour law since that time. He is recognized for being a frequent presenter on employment, occupational health and safety, and workplace insurance issues.

He has also been involved in a number of significant matters that enhance the reputation of the firm. In 2000, he represented the Association of Local Public Health Agencies at the Walkerton Water Inquiry. In 2016, he acted as lead counsel for Joseph Wilson in Wilson v. AECL, in which the Supreme Court of Canada agreed with his presentation, ruling that non-unionized employees in federally regulated workplaces are entitled to protections against unjust dismissal.

In recognition of his role in that landmark decision, LeNoury was named Employment Lawyer of the Year at the National HR Awards in 2016.
