Cassels Brock is pleased to announce that James G. Morand has joined our Toronto office as a partner in our Taxation Group.

James Morand is a partner in the Tax Group at Cassels Brock. His practice focuses on corporate tax, with particular expertise in capital markets, structured financial products, securitization, reorganizations, M&A (private and public), REITs, investment management and dispute resolution.
James acts for clients on innovative financial products, including income trusts, derivative instruments and asset securitizations. He also regularly advises on M&A transactions, with specific expertise in the income trust sector. In addition, James offers considerable experience in the reorganization of financially troubled companies and has advised on many significant restructurings.
An accomplished author, James has written numerous tax papers and commentaries for national and international publications including Lexpert, the International Tax Review, CCH-Focus on Current Cases and European Counsel. He is a member of the Canadian Tax Foundation and a former member of the Taxation Steering Committee of the Investment Funds Institute of Canada.
James is consistently recognized as a leader in his field by such prominent publications as The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory, Best Lawyers in Canada and Chambers Global: The World’s Leading Lawyers for Business.
