KMB Law Welcomes Colin Carruthers to our Toronto Office

KMB Law is pleased to announce that Colin Carruthers has joined the firm as a Partner and Head of Intellectual Property in our Toronto office.

Colin brings over a decade of experience in intellectual property law, with a particular focus on trademark strategy, protection, and enforcement. Prior to joining KMB Law, Colin spent his career at a leading Toronto intellectual property boutique, where he led the firm’s trademark group.

As a registered Canadian trademark agent, Colin advises clients across a wide range of industries on trademark clearance, registration, enforcement, and licensing. He works closely with businesses to develop tailored strategies that help them establish, protect, and strengthen their brands in an increasingly competitive marketplace.

In addition to his trademark practice, Colin has experience in copyright matters and broader intellectual property litigation. His expertise complements several of KMB Law’s existing practice areas, particularly the firm’s Franchise, Retail & Distribution Group, where effective brand protection is essential to long-term business success.

Beyond his legal practice, Colin has contributed to intellectual property education through collaborations with OCAD University and the University of Windsor Faculty of Law, helping creative entrepreneurs better understand and navigate trademark law.
