Matias is a determined and thoughtful litigator, known for his grit and unwavering commitment to advancing his clients’ interests. He brings a strategic and disciplined approach to complex legal disputes.

Matias maintains a broad litigation practice with a focus on commercial, insolvency, competition, and public law litigation, as well as appellate advocacy. He is fluent in French, Spanish, and English. Matias clerked at the Federal Court for Justice Lafrenière and Justice Mosley, where he assisted on administrative, constitutional, national security law matters, and others, including several high-profile cases. He previously worked at a leading national law firm, gaining experience in high-stakes commercial litigation.

Matias earned his law degrees from the University of Ottawa and the University of Montreal. At the University of Ottawa, he founded the Immigration and Refugee Law Association and co-founded the Latino Law Students Association. He received numerous awards for academic excellence and community involvement and graduated with Magna cum laude distinction. Matias also distinguished himself in advocacy competitions: he was ranked in the top ten oralists at the Laskin Moot, was named Best Oralist, and with his teammate won Best Respondent’s Factum at the Exchequer Cup Moot.
