Loopstra Nixon is pleased to congratulate new Partner Gurpal Bopa Rai.

Gurpal practices in the firm’s Corporate & Commercial group.

His practice focuses on all aspects of corporate and commercial law, including private and institutional financing, mergers and acquisitions, share and asset purchase transactions, shareholder agreements, corporate reorganizations, commercial real estate and various other general corporate/commercial matters.

Gurpal obtained his Juris Doctor (JD) from Queen’s University Faculty of Law. During law school, Gurpal worked as the Ontario fundraising coordinator for a member of provincial parliament as he ran for federal leadership of one of Canada’s major political parties.

Gurpal also holds an Honours Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from Wilfrid Laurier University, where he graduated with distinction.

Before joining the firm as an associate, Gurpal summered and articled at a full-service firm in Toronto and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2020. Outside of work, Gurpal is an avid reader, foodie and enjoys playing sports, particularly soccer and basketball. He is also a passionate Raptors and Manchester United fan. Gurpal is fluent in both English and Punjabi.
