Shane Rayman Introduces Rayman Beitchman LLP

Shane Rayman is pleased to announce his partnership with Jason Beitchman to form Rayman Beitchman LLP, a boutique firm focused on expropriations law and commercial litigation.

Shane’s practice has been focused on achieving outstanding results for his clients in the area of expropriations law and real property litigation. Shane’s practice also includes commercial litigation, regulatory and administrative matters, professional negligence claims and professional discipline proceedings.

In addition to having appeared before all levels of court in Ontario and the Federal Court of Canada, Shane was senior counsel for the Appellant in Antrim Truck Centre v. Ministry of Transportation on appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada. In March 2013, the Supreme Court rendered a unanimous decision in favour of the Appellant. Shane also appears regularly before the Ontario Municipal Board and represents numerous expropriated owners throughout Ontario in projects such as: the 407 East, Waterloo Rapid Transit, Metrolinx GTA Transit Developments, the Toronto-York Spadina Subway Extension, York Rapid Transit Initiatives, and other major infrastructure projects.

Shane received a B.A. in Economics from York University in 1996 He graduated with an LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1999, where he was awarded the Matthew Wilson Memorial Scholarship for standing third overall in a class of 300 in his final year of studies. Shane was called to the Ontario Bar in 2001.

Shane is a past president of the Ontario Expropriation Association and has been a director since 2006. He is also a member of the Canadian and Ontario Bar Associations, the Advocates’ Society, the International Academic Association on Planning, Law and Property Rights, and the Ontario Chapter of the International Right of Way Association. Shane currently serves as a director of the Greater Toronto Airport Authority Consultative Committee.
