Torys announces new partner Richard Johnson

We are delighted to welcome Richard Johnson to the partnership.

Richard Johnson’s practice focuses on corporate taxation, with an emphasis on mergers, acquisitions, dispositions and other reorganizations; debt and equity offerings; and transactions involving alternative energy (including wind, solar and hydro). Richard has extensive experience in the areas of sales and use tax, goods and services tax and harmonized sales tax; his experience includes advising on the formation of an offshore managed account platform, involving significant GST/HST analysis and advising a number of charities and not-for-profit organizations on the income tax and GST/HST aspects of their activities. Richard was also involved in the conversion to corporate form of former “income funds”, specifically BFI Canada Income Fund, PDM Income Fund, HOMEQ Income Fund, and Village Farms Income Fund.
